Geek Goggle Reviews: Walking Dead #70

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Walking Dead #70 Image Comics Kirkman, Adlard & Rathburn Rick and company arrive at the "town". The issue surrounds around the very initial introduction of the town, the life there and some of the characters in it. It's a good issue, but what would have been a very nice issue was turned on its side with some of the stories told by the characters within this issue. It leaves the reader with a very uncomfortable and skeptical feeling about the town's inhabitants. That makes the issue stand out and pushes the new story into a good direction.

Comic Book Pitt Special #8 – Ricky’s Comics

Listen to this episode. So the Duke and I recorded this kick-ass review episode last week spotlighting a bunch of new comics like Haunt, Spider Woman, Planetary, etc. We even had this great conversation about The Walking Dead, the conclusion to the ‘Fear The Hunters’ storyline and whether I was going to continue collecting the series. Shortly after we recorded that episode, I accidentally recorded another episode, this special episode, right over it. For the story behind “Ricky’s Com

Collect This Now! The short stories of Al Columbia

From Columbia's 'Amnesia' Perhaps it's because we tend to think of it as a very narrowly defined genre with certain expectations and limitations, but generally when we hear the term "horror comics" we tend to think of Tales From the Crypt or The Walking Dead and not so much anything from the art comix crowd. And yet I hope it's no slam against Al Feldstein or Robert Kirkman if I say that within the indie scene a number of talented cartoonists have produced some brilliant and truly terr

The Walking Dead #66 – Review

By Robert Kirkman (Writer), Charlie Adlard (Pencils & Inks), and Cliff Rathburn (Gray Tones) Some Thoughts Before The Review: It’s hard to believe that the “Fear the Hunters” arc ends with The Walking Dead #66. While it’s been really entertaining, I had initially expected it to run for longer than five issues considering how hard it was teased and pushed by Image prior to its launch a few months back. The Story: Rick and his group deal with the hunters. Meanwhile, Dale accepts his f

Comic books – rediscovered

Lance Curran, a good friend, musician and the warehouse director over at Threadless recently took me to the local comic shop here in Boulder.  He convinced me to pick up the first books of The Walking Dead and The Boys .  In the 4 months since then I’ve read about another 50 books of various titles.  Each softcover book typically contains about 6 issues.  So that means I’ve read like 300 comic books in 4 months.  WTF! I haven’t really bothered with super hero comics. I’m more into the
