Comic Book Pitt Special #8 – Ricky’s Comics

Listen to this episode. So the Duke and I recorded this kick-ass review episode last week spotlighting a bunch of new comics like Haunt, Spider Woman, Planetary, etc. We even had this great conversation about The Walking Dead, the conclusion to the ‘Fear The Hunters’ storyline and whether I was going to continue collecting the series. Shortly after we recorded that episode, I accidentally recorded another episode, this special episode, right over it. For the story behind “Ricky’s Com

The Walking Dead #66 – Review

By Robert Kirkman (Writer), Charlie Adlard (Pencils & Inks), and Cliff Rathburn (Gray Tones) Some Thoughts Before The Review: It’s hard to believe that the “Fear the Hunters” arc ends with The Walking Dead #66. While it’s been really entertaining, I had initially expected it to run for longer than five issues considering how hard it was teased and pushed by Image prior to its launch a few months back. The Story: Rick and his group deal with the hunters. Meanwhile, Dale accepts his f

Comic books – rediscovered

Lance Curran, a good friend, musician and the warehouse director over at Threadless recently took me to the local comic shop here in Boulder.  He convinced me to pick up the first books of The Walking Dead and The Boys .  In the 4 months since then I’ve read about another 50 books of various titles.  Each softcover book typically contains about 6 issues.  So that means I’ve read like 300 comic books in 4 months.  WTF! I haven’t really bothered with super hero comics. I’m more into the

Robert Kirkman and Todd McFarlane Bring Us Haunt #1StorytellingAdd comments

10th Oct, 2009 | No Comment | Posted in Comics, ReviewsPosted by Mike Leach When I heard that Robert Kirkman and Todd McFarlane were teaming up to bring comic fans everywhere a new book to read I was ecstatic. Seriously how could the minds behind The Walking Dead and Spawn get together and deliver anything but solid wholesome comic goodness for readers everywhere. Then, after my first read through of Haunt #1 I realized that the book had a familiar feel. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it

Robert Kirkman on AMC’s Walking Dead

I’m unabashedly, ravenously excited for AMC’s upcoming adaptation of comic series The Walking Dead , directed by Frank Darabont, and I won’t make that any kind of secret. But some may have their reservations, and I can respect that. After all, how often do film/TV adaptations of really great comics live up to their roots or potential? Is the series going to be okay on AMC, or would its horror tone be more at home with HBO or Showtime’s more lax content standards? Is the director of Shawshank

Fox Orders Pilot Based On Peter Bagge’s ‘Bradleys’

" The Walking Dead " might not be the only comic headed to television next year, as Buddy Bradley and the rest of writer/artist Peter Bagge's fictional slackers now have a serious shot at breaking into prime time. The irreverent family who got their start in Bagge's Fantagraphics titles "Hate" and "Neat Stuff" now appear to be in the limelight for the Fox Network, who ordered a pilot of "The Bradleys" as a potential animated series. "Our own Peter Bagge has a development deal with FOX for 'The
