Geek Goggle Reviews: Blackest Night #7

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Blackest Night #7 of 8 DC Comics Johns, Reis, Albert & Prado The penultimate chapter in the main mini series continues to move around the pieces for the big finish. The comic book looks great, has some great confrontations and has a lot of loud moments, but its light on story. As has been the case since the beginning of this series (and the satellite titles) seems to not have enough story to fill in the duration, and yet, in the main series the story seem to be leaving out too much story.

Geek Goggle Reviews: Criminal The Sinners #4

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Criminal: The Sinners #4 Icon (Marvel Comics) Brubaker & Phillips Tracy Lawless finds a way to survive in this issue but he just keeps making more and more enemies it seems. Geek Goggle Reviews: Existence 3.0 #2

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Existence 3.0 #2 of 4 Shadowline Comics (Image Comics) Spencer & Salas Existence 3.0 sends the story into a crazy direction as the sides begin to close in on multiple fronts for various characters in this issue. While the first issue moved the pieces in place and the previous series had cliffhangers tied in the amazing scientific twists, this issue gets back to basics by providing a fast paced, chase mixed with humor, surprise villains and downright bizarreness. I like the direction this issue is taking the series as it is taking on its own unique identity from Existence 2.0. Read more

Geek Goggle Reviews: Scalped #34

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Scalped #34 Vertigo Comics (DC) Aaron & Guera The Gnawing arc comes to a conclusion in this issue and make no mistake everything does indeed change. This issue, perhaps more than any other in the series, is a game changer. Up to this point the story has dragged every character into some level of villainy and put each one on the antagonist side, even if briefly. However, in this issue the lines of good guy and bad guy get drawn and folks get killed off. At the end there is a new status quo. Sure some plot threads still exist that could blow things up in a different way, but this issue wraps up many plots that have been running for a couple of years.
