Pictures of international Disney comics

I recently got some nice scans of international Disney comics from my friend Tim Otterburg in Germany. Like me, Tim collects Disney comics from around the world and he’s got an impressive collection. With his permission I’d like to share some of these wonderful scans here. You can click the pictures to view them bigger

Lantern not hopping in Aussie

DC Comics and Warner Bros Pictures continues its shaky downward spiral through its latest set of oncoming adaptations, this time it comes in the form of “The Green Lantern”. This particular production has been on the ball compared to the “Justice League” feature that is in and out of production hell. Below is an excerpt from The Hollywood Reporter that tells more: The studio said that “the current global economic situation, including fluctuations in currency valuation and overall costs,”

Geeks at the Beach – the Long Beach Comic-Con Wrap-Up

If you can’t tell from the pictures I took , the Long Beach Comic-Con was a rousing success, celebrating the world of comics and lots more (but mostly comics). There are those who complain that the San Diego Comic-Con , the big daddy of all conventions, has gone Hollywood in recent years, pushing aside the focus on the comics that provided the foundation for these types of conventions for more than 40 years. Yes, they had Gundam director Yoshiyuki Tomino as their keynote speaker, and Viz drew cheers with the announcement that they would be showing the last season of the InuYasha anime online, for free, at almost the same time it will be broadcast in Japan. But there was plenty to love for those of us who don’t like their pictures moving. He

Like Artists Are Authors

Shee-yah… as if .  I mean, come on , people.  Are you telling me the person who draws the pictures is an author of a graphic novel along with the writer?  What do they really contribute to the graphic novel experience?  I mean, aside from keeping the book from being a short story lasting three pages.  I mean, we all know comic book writers just write comics and graphic novels because they can’t hack writing real books.  So, what does a comic artist really contribute to a graphic

Marvel’s “Ghost Rider” Second Part Is About To Start

Columbia Pictures has begun to rev the throttle on a second installment of the Marvel Comics character “Ghost Rider.” David Goyer is in early talks to create the story and supervise writers for a film expected to once again star Nicolas Cage, who played the highly flammable cyclist in the 2007 original. Through a spokesperson, Goyer said he hadn’t signed on yet. But plans are already under way to base the sequel on a “Ghost Rider” script written years ago by Goyer, whose superhero work in
