How to Get Kids to Do Their Math Homework!
As I was watching the news the other day they flashed a statistic on the screen that was extremely shocking. It stated that 66% of kids in American grade 8 classes were not able to do the required math. Not 5%, or 10%, but 66%. How in the world could this be the case?

R.I.P. George Tuska, 1916-2009
Iron Man #71 by George Tuska George Tuska , the Golden/Silver/Bronze Age artist whose career in comics spanned six decades, has died at the age of 93. As noted by Tom Spurgeon , The Art of George Tuska author Dewey Cassell broke the news in a Yahoo group; Cassell had relayed word of Tuska's retirement from drawing commissions just six days ago . Tuska was perhaps best known for his nine and a half year stint as the artist for Marvel's Iron Man series, from September 1968's issu

CNN Takes on Flawed Dogs
Berkeley Breathed, the supremely talented cartoonist behind Opus and the recently-collected Bloom County comic strips, talked to CNN this week about the genesis of his new children’s book Flawed Dogs , which he actually pegs more as a prepubescent reader than really “children’s.” Breathed told the news organization that the book was inspired, in part, by the dog abuse by Michael Vick and how some of those dogs were able to be saved by a nonprofit; he also dishes on why angry comics are

Comic Cuts – 9 October 2009
I've just heard the news that fans at this year's big Dutch comics convention, De Stripdagen 2009, held on 26 and 27 September at Houten, voted the Karl the Viking box-set the winner in the best production category. Rob van Bavel says that the DLC team celebrated with a bottle of champagne, which makes me wish I was actually in Holland rather than just named Holland. I will uphold British traditions by having a celebratory cup of tea rather than my usual coffee and offer a "Jolly well done" to

DC Comics going Hollywood?
After the recent shake-ups in DC Comics , rumors of even more changes are in the wind. Bleeding Cool and other news sites are reporting that DC may be vacating their New York offices and moving to California. For now, it remains just a rumor, but there are several reasons why such a move would make sense. With the recent reorganization, parent company Time-Warner has placed DC Comics under their film division . This reflects the growing influence that comic book movies have garnered in rec
